Hello, Friends!
Sunday’s All Saints celebration was full of glorious, beautiful, touching reminders of much that makes life worthwhile—most blessed of all, that we journey as members of one human family—and that our definition of family knows no limits, not even the limits of mortality.
This year we incorporated origami cranes into our memorial observance (thank you, Mary Word!).  As we wrote names, assembled the shapes, and enjoyed the beautiful colors of those already on display on the altar, we all took part in creating an organic, living reminder of how every life touches every other life.
The process goes on, too—anyone who didn’t have the opportunity to write a beloved one’s name on an origami page can do so, for weeks to come.
Over time we’ll be hanging them all in our stairway-hall area, so that as we come and go, we can take delight in remembering, and in being alive to carry on a living legacy of loving each other, as we’ve been loved.
Also evident in worship were two talismans of All Saints Days past—a beautiful banner, with names of dear ones still visible, and from another year, a garland of multicolored ribbons, on which names had been written.
Each year’s reverent, creative observances bless those of the succeeding years—and all the colors, textures, designs and configurations speak of the marvelous, ever-changing  tapestry that is our human journey, in each other’s good company.
I’m so honored to be with you these days, as we move forward on a new path, in a new day—and I’m equally honored to know the path has been prepared for us so lovingly and well, for so many years, by all the saints whose living legacy we are.
I look forward to remembering, and living in the now with you this Sunday, and all our days to come.

Shalom,
Sarah
