Hello, Friends!
This past Sunday was glorious!   If you weren’t here for worship, you missed something wonderful and rare—the coming together of a powerful time of worship and remembrance with a momentous sacramental moment in two people’s lives—their marriage rite.
Tamara Basham and Nick Cramer were married here during our morning worship service, at which time we also remembered the life and legacy of Dr. King.  The imperative of God’s righteousness and mercy, as revealed in the Light of Christ, the Word made Human,
is to love as we have been loved--
to open and offer our own hearts’ essence, our very lives, to Love’s call.
There is no lovelier or more powerful reflection of God’s covenanted love than that between mates, who truly believe they are bound in a sacred covenant with one another.   And because of the day and its meaning, we were all reminded of how precious and powerful is the gift of life, the gift of conscience, the gift of the Love that will not let us go, and will not let us be.
We’re nudged, encouraged, empowered by the Spirit to keep our eyes on the prize, to commit ourselves anew to the cause of peace with justice, to pray and work and learn together how we can become more fully human, and share that gift with our sisters and brothers.
The coalescence of loving energy afforded us by Sunday’s worship buoyed our spirits, blessed our bodies, touched our hearts, and stoked Spirit fire for all the good work ahead that Christ has for us to do, in His name.
Thanks to all of you who were present Sunday; a special thank you goes to all of you who rallied around Tamara and Nick and helped host heir beautiful party after the service.
Thanks to Dr. King, for his courage, grace, and holy fire, still able to enlighten and inspire us these forty years after his tragic and untimely death, reminding us that the Light shines, and no darkness can overcome it.
I look forward to trusting the Light and tending the flame with you this Sunday, and all our days to come.

Shalom,
Sarah
