Sun. Dec. 19 Open House 4:00-6:00 p.m.

Sun. Dec. 19. Baby Shower for Jesus. After church. Gifts go to Red Cross and the Food Pantry to help needy families. (Click on the picture for more Advent pictures.)

Sun. Dec. 12 Christmas Cantata. The Gift of Light, by Dick Barrick.

Sat. Dec. 11. See the Dead Sea Scrolls in Houston. (Click on the picture for a larger picture.)

Thanksgiving events: Prepare Thanksgiving boxes of food for distribution, Special worship services.

October 3: World Communion Sunday

Fall 2004: Sarah is facilitating Disciple Bible Study, Year One - "Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study."

Fall 2004: Cynthia Layton is teaching a Spanish as a Second Language class on Mondays from noon to 1:30 p.m.

Sunday, Sept. 12. Worship service. Dwayne Jones, the head of Community Relations for the Austin Police Department, and a minister, was the visiting pastor.

Sunday, Sept. 12. 6:00 p.m. Rev. Cynthia Layton, Memorial UMC, was a guest at our Administrative Board meeting and gave a presentation on Hispanic Ministry.

Sunday, August 29. Fifth-Sunday potluck lunch after church.

Sunday, August 22. 6:00 p.m. Ice-cream social on the lawn and we especially welcomed our neighbors to attend!

Saturday, August 21. 7 am - 4 pm SLICC Garage Sale at the church.

August 16-17: Several members attended "Through the Stained Glass: Religion and the Media", sponsored by Texas Faith Network and Texas Freedom Network. Keynote speaker: Helen Thomas

Sunday mornings, June 13-July 4.
“Creating Interfaith Community” study, facilitated by Sarah. This study explored other religions and ways we can participate in building bridges and making peace. (Click on this picture for more pictures from June 2004.)

Sunday, May 30: Feast of Pentecost

Creating Interfaith Community:

  • Saturday, June 12, 9 a.m. Sarah participated in a panel discussion with representatives of Judaism and Islam, followed by open idea exchange and lunch, at Cedar Park UMC.

  • Sunday, June 13. Worship message by Susan Wills, executive director of Austin Area Interreligious Ministries
  • Advent services (Four weeks leading to Christmas.)
    Includes a Christmas Cantata in mid-December, caroling, and a Christmas Eve service.

  • Lenten services (Weeks leading to Easter) Includes several Holy Week services and an Easter sunrise service
  • Easter Egg Hunt (Saturday before Easter)

  • Spring carnival (first Saturday in May)

  • Garage Sale (October)

  • Week of Prayer for Children (October)

  • Thanksgiving (November) Prepare and distribute Thanksgiving boxes of food for 20+ families, Special worship service

  • Arts and Crafts Bazaar (early December)
